Common Uses:
Folic acid (also known as vitamin B9 or folacin) and folate (the naturally occurring form), as well as pteroyl-L-glutamic acid and pteroyl-L-glutamate, are forms of the water-soluble vitamin B9. Folic acid is itself not biologically active with its biological importance being due to tetrahydrofolate and other derivatives after its conversion to dihydrofolic acid in the liver.
How to use:
Use Vitafol as ordered by your doctor. This medicine works better if you take it on an empty stomach. You may take this medicine with food if it causes an upset stomach. Some foods like eggs, whole grain breads, cereal, dairy products, coffee, and tea may make Vitafol not work as well. If this medicine causes an upset stomach, talk with your doctor about the best way to take Vitafol with food.
