Common Uses
Sitagliptin is used with a proper diet and exercise program and possibly with other medications to control high blood sugar. It is used in people with type 2 diabetes. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke.
How to Take

Take this medication by mouth with or without food, as directed by your doctor, usually once daily.
Warning and Precautions
Cases of inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) have been reported in patients receiving Januvia. If you encounter blistering of the skin it may be a sign for a condition called bullous pemphigoid. Your doctor may ask you to stop Januvia.
Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If you do not remember until it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medicine.
Overdose
You may have signs of low blood sugar, such as extreme weakness, blurred vision, sweating, trouble speaking, tremors, stomach pain, confusion, and seizure (convulsions).
Storage
This medicine does not require any special storage conditions.
Possible Side Effects
Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Januvia: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
