Lithosun (Lithium Carbonate) is a psychiatric drug which is used in the treatment of depression. It is also indicated for the prevention of mania in those affected by bipolar disorder, as it acts as a mood stabilizer. This medicine helps to decrease abnormal activity in the brain, which makes it effective at treating psychiatric disorders.

How to Take
Lithosun (Lithium Carbonate) comes as tablets, which contain 300mg of the active ingredient. Doctors who are treating patients for bipolar disorder and certain other psychiatric disorders often prescribe a dosage ranging from 900mg to 1.2g per day, given as 2 to 4 divided doses. If treating bipolar disorder, abruptly stopping treatment can cause a sudden return of symptoms. The doctor will most likely tell the patient to gradually decrease the dosage over a period of 14 days. Other conditions may be treated with different amounts of medicine. Your doctor will ensure that the levels of lithium in your body are not too high, as this could be dangerous. Blood tests may be required in order to ensure this.
